November Social at Avanu on Flagler in New Smyrna Beach CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Join the VYPG for a night of networking at our November Social on November 16th from 5:30-7:30pm!! The event is being held at Avanu on Flagler in New Smyrna Beach! Tickets can be purchased in advance on our website ($5 for members, $10 for future members). Be sure to bring a business card to enter to win for a chance to be featured as VYPG Member of the Month. See you there!

VYPG Community Service Activity: Halifax Urban Ministries on Saturday, November 11 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Desc:. Please join the Volusia Young Professionals Group (VYPG) as we volunteer at Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) on Saturday, November 11 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. This volunteer activity will take place at Hope Place, 1340 Wright St, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.

Volunteer tasks include:
  • Painting (indoors and/or outdoors)
What to wear:  
  • Comfortable attire (i.e. clothes you do not mind getting dirty)
  • Closed-toe shoes
About: Hope Place, a HUM service center, provides emergency housing for up to 3 months for over 100 families with children each year. Families are provided a safe place to stay, day care for children, three 3 meals a day, tutoring, life skills and budgeting classes, and case management. HUM's Rapid Rehousing Program helps families quickly establish a new residence each year through financial assistance and follows up with case management to increase the chance of a successful outcome, helping families return to being self-sustaining members of our community. Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) prevents homelessness among low-income families by providing emergency assistance and intervenes on behalf of those who have become homeless to reestablish permanent housing. HUM is a faith-based nonprofit that has served the community since 1981. Almost all of their funding is through financial donations by the local community. 94% of each dollar directly provides services to HUM guests. HUM offers homeless prevention & assistance services throughout Volusia County from HUM service centers and distributed services at 30 partner & school locations.

About: The Beacon Center provides empowerment based survivor focused services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The purpose of the Beacon Center is to provide emergency shelter, advocacy,  support groups, information and referral services, case management, court accompaniment, safety planning, and other needed services to support survivors in their efforts for safety and well-being.  Want to learn more about the Beacon Center? Miracle League Day - April 22!
Saturday, April 22 at 8:45am until 10:30am

Please join us as we are partnering with The Miracle League of Volusia County in order to put on a great day of baseball by serving as volunteers to help children with special needs in our Community enjoy a great day on the baseball diamond!

  • When: Saturday, April 22 at 8:45am until 11:30am
  • Where: NSB Sports Complex 1800 Turnbull Bay Road New Smyrna Beach
  • What: Serving as Coaches/Buddies to help the kids at bat, run the bases, and interact with the kids to ensure a great day of fun. No Baseball experience needed!

We are looking for 18-20 volunteers in order to ensure the event is a success. All members are VYPG are MORE than welcome to join in the fun! The Athletics Committee looks forward to a great day of fun with your help! Please let us know if you can join and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
